Recently we were in a small ski resort and there was an enormous amount of ice and snow on the roads. Although they had salted the roads, the problem was that the roads were slippery at the best of times. They alleviated the problem by adding small size chains.

And yes, you can buy milk before you go to the gym and the library and it’s still OK when you get home 2 hours later.

Keep a blanket, a candle, water and emergency chocolate in your trunk. And matches.

Put the no-freeze stuff in your windshield fluid before you drive to Minnesota in December. Before.

Cold weather? What is that? The weird thing about cold weather is that you guys can leave your groceries in the car while you go shopping. That would be kind of like a silver lining, I’d think.

I’ve been meaning to have the furnace guy come out (we’ve actually had the heat on for almost a month…we had to turn it on three days after we turned the air conditioner off. That’s Wisconsin.). I’m adding it to this week’s to-do list.

I’ve gotta put the shovel and the kitty litter in the car too. Up here, you don’t want to be out without that stuff in winter.
